Pros
- Can help you to easily identify songs
- Free
- Makes it easy to purchase those songs from the Google Play store
Cons
- Only works for Google Play, thus limiting where you can search
- Can only find songs if they are actually in the Google Play store
- Typically only works with what is available in the U.S. version of the Google Play store
Sound Search for Google Play allows you to search Google Play for certain music. It essentially acts as a Shazam, but specific to Google Play.
Getting the app to work is easy: You open it up and play a song. The app will then identify the song and link directly to where you can buy it on Google Play. This makes it easy to identify songs and convenient to buy them. Furthermore, you typically don't have to play much of a song for it to be recognized. The app is very user friendly and easy to use.
Within this, there are limitations. The app currently only works in the U.S. version of the Google Play store, thus limiting how easy it can be to find certain songs. Keep in mind that the app only works based on whether or not you can actually find it in the Google Play store. As such, if it is not available in the Google Play store, you won't be able to identify or download it.
The biggest drawback to this App is also the most obvious, as it's right in the name: It only works for Google Play and not any other store. If you try to search for sounds elsewhere, it won't work, and the limited nature of this app obviously makes it much less user friendly than when compared to other apps.
On the plus side, the app is free to download and use.
